Understand how radiology accounts, medical-scheme benefits, pre-authorisation and private-payment arrangements apply before your examination.

General account information

ImagePro Radiology is an independent specialist radiology practice. Our account is issued separately from accounts provided by Netcare, casualty, pathology or your treating specialist.

Your radiology account must be settled on the day of the examination or, if you are admitted to hospital, on the day of discharge.

South African medical-scheme patients

In most cases, the rate charged is the unique scheme rate determined by your medical scheme for the examination. If the scheme is in good standing, ImagePro can submit the account on your behalf once permission, current proof of membership and correct membership and personal details have been supplied.

Your cover depends on your chosen plan. Confirm whether the service qualifies as a prescribed minimum benefit (PMB), whether network or co-payment rules apply, and whether the account will be paid from a medical savings account. PMB guidance is available from the Council for Medical Schemes.

Some plans provide only in-hospital benefits. If savings are depleted, benefits are unavailable or a shortfall applies, you may need to settle the amount yourself. Newborn babies must be registered as dependants with the medical scheme immediately after birth.

Pre-authorisation remains the patient’s responsibilityImagePro can assist with an application, but pre-authorisation is not a guarantee of payment and does not remove your responsibility for the account. Known co-payments or benefit shortfalls may require immediate settlement.

Private-paying patients

  • Private accounts are issued at ImagePro’s standard private rate.
  • A reduced preferential rate applies when the account is settled in full on the examination date or, for an admitted patient, on the discharge date.
  • Non-South African residents must settle their account in full on the day of examination or discharge.
  • South African residents using insurance companies or international medical-aid schemes must also settle directly on the day of examination or discharge.
